This is a real person on a real subway. This is awesome. Like mind blowingly awesome:

Painter Alexa Meade has painted people and has them walking around. The people become flat, 2D things that you can't quite negotiate into the 3D space surrounding them. Seriously, go check them out.

Holy crap. That's fantastically trippy.
Yikes. I predict a (tiny) flashmob
I was in DC today for lunch so I stopped at a gallery showing her work - they had four prints, including Transit and Victorious. Somehow, I thought they'd be bigger. I'm going to keep an eye out to see if she does a live installation locally though, because, while the photos/prints were interesting, seeing this process live would be something else altogether.
I'm so jealous, Jenn. Was the installation more or less interesting than the photos online? I think you're right though: seeing this live, with people's reactions, would be the best thing. I need her to paint people in LA!
The prints were interesting - I kept wanting to tug them out from the walls to check the angles - but they just felt a bit small. I think life-size would be more intriguing. Unfortunately, her live painting was last weekend.
hope you find your tacos!
